An old family dispute turned violent in the Mansinghpur area under Jagatballabhpur police station limits in Howrah on Sunday, leaving at least 6 to 7 people injured, including a policeman and a civic volunteer. The tension erupted after Qasim Molla and his associates blocked the approach road to Aashiq Molla’s house using bamboo poles, triggering a strong reaction from the rival group.
When the police arrived at the scene following a complaint from Aashiq’s side, they tried to clear the road, but both factions suddenly clashed using bricks, bamboo sticks, and rods. Shockingly, the violent confrontation unfolded in full view of the police, who were also targeted during the chaos.
The brawl, which began in the afternoon, continued sporadically till late at night. Police have since arrested five individuals from both sides. A search operation was carried out through the night, and additional forces have been deployed to maintain peace.
At present, the area remains tense, with a strong police presence monitoring the situation. Locals are gripped with fear, and authorities are closely watching for any signs of further unrest.
